Avoid Sewer Back-ups

Close up of two employees pulling sewer line into manhole

Avoid sewer back-ups in your home or business. Never pour fats, oils or grease (FOG) down the drain. With the holidays upon us, it's especially important to remember when cleaning up from a turkey or ham dinner that leaves grease and fat on the dishes and in pans.

Wipe out greasy pots, pans & dishes with paper towels, then throw away the towels. If you use a cloth to wipe out grease, then put it in the laundry, the grease still goes down the sewer drain. Although some people think running hot water down a drain will break up the grease, that's not correct. Eventually, the FOG will cool & harden, clogging your pipes & drains, causing sewer to back up into your building. Back-ups smell really bad generally & they're a mess to clean.

Our crews are here to help if you experience such a back-up. We'll clear the BPU side of the line & advise if you need a plumber.  Call us 24 hours a day for this type of help. Call 716-661-1660 on work days or 716-661-1640 after business hours.
