Reliable Power
The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities is a unique municipal utility functioning as an enterprise division of the City of Jamestown providing low-cost electricity derived from hydropower. Our stable infrastructure gives peace of mind to any business that can't afford downtime.
Dependable Service for Your Business
Utilities use the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI) to measure the total number of interruptions a customer can expect annually.
Average SAIFI for North American Utilities: 1.10 annually
5-Year Average BPU SAIFI: .20 (one interruption every five years)
The System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) score measures the average length of time for service interruptions.
Average SAIDI for North American Utilities: 1.50 hours
BPU 5-Year Average SAIDI: 29.95 minutes
Economic Development Incentives
In addition, and subject to the details of your business, there are economic development incentives (our SC-6 rate) that may be available to you and could provide even lower cost power (compared to our already low cost industrial rate). Further information about our rates can be found here, as well as information about these incentives.
Another significant advantage to working with the Jamestown BPU is we are not bound by the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) interconnection regulations for projects within our territory. This means the BPU can often move swiftly compared to other providers.
Work With A Trusted Energy Partner
The BPU supplies electricity and water to businesses of all sizes, providing customers lower energy costs and increased productivity. We are committed to providing environmentally sound, efficient, cost effective electric, water, solid waste, wastewater and district heating utility services while actively encouraging the economic growth and development of our community. We look forward to learning more about your business.
