If your electric service is disconnected, it can be reconnected within twenty-four hours if:
- The NYS Department of Public Service directs the BPU to reconnect service.
- You face a serious threat to health or safety.
- You have either paid the amount due or signed a special payment agreement and made the down payment.
- If you receive public assistance, the BPU will schedule a reconnect if it receives a commitment of payment from the social service agency assisting you.
Reconnection Charge
The BPU has the right to charge a fee to reconnect your electric or water service.
