How does the incentive work?

Under the program, customers are paid based on energy savings (kWh) or a specific amount for each kWh of electricity saved. These savings may result from efficiency measures that the customer has investigated.

To qualify, customers will have to provide supporting documentation to demonstrate the potential energy savings. Documentation can be in the form of engineering reports, energy efficiency studies, or manufacturesí cut sheets. For information or assistance with energy efficiency studies, contact the BPU Energy Efficiency Coordinator at 661-1646.

What are some examples of projects that would qualify under the custom incentive program?

Energy efficiency measures that could receive funding under the custom incentive program include, but are not limited to:
  • Building System Automation
  • Heat Recovery Systems
  • Natural Lighting
