In accordance with the Charter of the City of Jamestown, New York, Jamestown Mayor Samuel Teresi holds the position of Board of Public Utilities President.
Mayor Teresi earned a Master of Arts in Public Affairs and Administration, Summa Cum Laude, from the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Summa Cum Laude, from the University at Buffalo, and an Associates of Arts Degree from Jamestown Community College.
Prior to his election as Mayor in November, 1999, he served as Director of Development of the City of Jamestown for 12 years. The Mayor was re-elected to additional four-year terms in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.
Mayor Teresi serves as Chairman of the Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency and as President of the Jamestown Local Development Corporation. He serves on the Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation Board of Directors and is Co-Chair of the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation.
The Mayor is Immediate Past President of the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) and currently sits on the NYCOM Executive Board. Governor Andrew Cuomo appointed Mayor Teresi to serve as a member of the Western New York Economic Development Council and previously to the Governorís Mandate Relief and Redesign Council.
Mayor Teresi is also a member of the National Policymaking Council of the American Public Power Association (APPA).
In addition, the Mayor is a director of the Babe Ruth World Series Board of the Directors, the Executive Board of Jamestown Professional Baseball, Inc. and is member of the Kiwanis Club of Jamestown.
Mayor Teresi and his wife Becky are the parents of two sons.
